The process by which cancer cells spread to other parts of the body is called metastasis. Metastatic cancer has the same name and the same type of cancer cells as the original, or primary, cancer. For example, breast cancer that spreads to and forms a metastatic tumor in the lung is metastatic breast cancer, not lung cancer. When you need treatment for cancer, you have a lot to learn and think about. It is normal to feel overwhelmed and confused. But, talking with your doctor and learning all you can about all your treatment options, including clinical trials, can help you make a decision you feel good about. Our Questions to Ask Your Doctor About Treatment may help.

Mammography is the “gold standard” for the analysis of the breast from an imaging.

This decrease is mainly due to a large effect on invasive breast cancer, for which the rate of reduction is 44 (p = ) and a significant decrease in in situ carcinoma (DCIS) (p = ).The effect largely reflects the effect on estrogen-receptor-positive breast cancers with a much lower, non-significant increase in estroge- negative breast.
